Overview
Patmos is a charming, tranquil island adorned with numerous tourist shops lining the harbor. Among them, the Sarampelou Cafe Wine Bar emerges as a true gem. After exploring various Greek islands and struggling to find the outstanding Greek wines we know exist, we were hopeful that this hidden gem would lead us to some fine selections. Mike, the owner, offers a wonderfully curated collection of Greek wines and possesses a deep knowledge of the subject. His warm demeanor and genuine commitment to ensuring every visitor has an enjoyable experience made our time there delightful, especially for the dozen of us who dropped by. We sampled a delicate Assyrtiko (Terra Nerra) from the Artemis Karamolegos winery and a Limnio from Vourvoukeli Estate. The Assyrtiko was slightly fruitier than others I’ve tried, yet it was still quite delightful. The Limnio featured an exquisite floral bouquet, with touches of licorice and cherry, finishing off with a hint of orange. And let’s not forget the coffee— the cappuccino was superb!
